" Ryobi SDS plus Rotary Hammer Drill The SDS+ system refers to the shank style of the bit that goes into the chuck. An SDS+ chuck is different from a normal drill chuck and has been designed to hold drills and accessories with special groves in them. This holds them much tighter and prevents them slipping during demanding tasks. This Ryobi SDS+ drill has three functions which allows the user to undertake normal drilling, hammer drilling and chiseling. Each mode is clearly identified via the graphic image on the side of the body. The drill bit image is for normal drilling, the drill bit and hammer image is for hammer drilling, and the hammer with a ‘stop’ sign is for chiseling. These are easily selected via the switch on the side. The chiseling function stops the chuck from rotation and allows you to use a chisel or point to perform tasks such as removing plaster or tiles from walls, or to break up and remove small areas of concrete or cement. This machine has a 710 watt motor and an impact force of 2 joules. There is a sturdy front handle for user control and the body incorporates a knuckle protection feature in front of the fingers. Variable speed is via a dial on the trigger, and you can lock the power ‘on’ (generally for chiseling) via the button on the side of the handle.
